They won the 2011 Champions League Twenty20 during his reign as team Mumbai’s captain. He also became captain of Punjab in the 2012 – 2013 Trophy Season.

His Test and One Day International (ODI) debuts in the early part of 1998, but his career was affected by some disciplinary incidents. Other Tests followed, involving Zimbabwe and New Zealand. However, Singh was not that successful in his international career. He faced several challenges, as he was overlooked by selectors and the death of his father. In the end, he had to make a difficult decision.

In 1997, Harbhajan Singh, faced with the responsibilities that the death of his father left him, plus his unsuccessful international stint, decided to quit cricket. He moved to the United States and became a truck driver to support his family, which included his mother and unmarried sisters. However, a few months later, his career took a surprising turn.

The end of Harbhajan Singh’s career in cricket paved the way for his career in politics as he focused his goals on serving his constituents in Punjab, India. He then became a member of the Parliament, Rajya Sabha. He assumed office on April 09, 2022, and was preceded by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
