Surgical Strike 2: What Actually Happened?

Surgical Strike 2

On the 14th of February, 2019, a convoy of CRPFs was blown up by a suicide bomber in Pulwama sent by Jaish-e-Mohammed, a United Nations proscribed organization which caused the killing of around 44 India’s Central Reserve Police Force jawans. The whole nation was taken aback due to this dreadful instance. The Army boiled in anger, eager to seek revenge. Revenge did come, of course. After all, no crime is left unseen.

Twelve days following the incident, the Indian Army decided to fight back. On the 26th of February, 2019, the Indian Army conducted a surgical strike on Pakistan. The IAF jets crossed the line of control and destroyed Jaish-e-Mohammed target camps at the break of morning, 3:30 am on Tuesday.

When the Pakistanis sensed the bombarding, they released its jets but the formation was too difficult for them to tackle. This Balakot bombing took around 90 seconds and the whole operation lasted for about 21 minutes. All the Indian Army personnel returned home safely.

The number of Pakistanis killed in the attack has been estimated to be around 300. The Indian Army took extreme care to not cause harm to any civilians. Yousuf Azhar, the brother-in-law of Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Mansood Azhar, who was also a Hijacker of IC-814, is also estimated to be dead in the attack.

Indian political parties have shown unity on the action against the terror groups. The Indian Army has been highly praised and a lot of support has been expressed on behalf of political leaders, actors and actresses, sports persons and many other renowned people from the country. It has been seen as a moment of pride for succeeding in taking revenge as well as grief for losing our precious jawans who have shown utter dedication for the country and have worked day and night to make it possible for us to sleep fearlessly.
