Honda Civic With 2400 Bookings To Reclaim Glory

After a 7 years long gap, Honda civic was introduced back to reclaim the lost glory. Honda Civic has recently confirmed carandbike that the sedan has already got over than 2400 bookings in just 40 days. This company might have skipped a generation to present themselves in Indian market but now the whole badge is finally back and has reclaimed to get back their lost glory.

The numbers might be small but it’s quite a good one in overall sales in the last 5 months.  Honda civic has gotten off to a strong start in its second run in Indian market. Among the 2400 bookings of the D segment sedan, almost 85% of them are petrol version and 80% of the bookings are for the top trims. The new civic is available in the market with three petrol and two diesel variants.

This new civic part is produced at Surajpur in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh Company’s production plant. Honda has a capacity to produce at around 100,000 units every year. Since 1948, there has been several expansions with time and has made cars like the Accord and previous civic. The second plant is at Tapukara in Rajasthan’s Alwar district that has the capacity of around 180,000 units. Here the Amaze has been made that has proven to be a big hit for Honda. The WR-V and its alter ego-Jazz, the BR-V are some units of the city. But the production of Brio has been stopped somehow. India is only one of 10 of those locations where this car is made. Though India gets only the sedan and not the hatchback or even the Coupe, but not all these locations produce both petrol and diesel. In overall 20 % of the car production is of diesel variant in Greater Noida and 80% the bulk of the production holds the petrol variant. This is because of the demand the company has seen through their bookings.

When spoke to Rajesh Goel, senior vice-president and director for sales and marketing at Honda cars India said, “The response to the Civic has been phenomenal. The bookings that we have got for the first month are more than three months sales of the segment.” This gives an idea of their recreation for their lost glory.
