Famous Hindi actor Naseeruddin Shah was invited to the Ajmer LIterature Festival. On Friday, the organizers of this program canceled this event after the comment on mob violence by the actor. The right-wing groups protest against his comment. Now the Hindi actor was in the center of controversy after his remarks which were related to the killing of a policeman in Bulandshahr earlier this month. The main reason for this controversy was the emerging video which was viral on social media. Where Shah said that the death of a cow had more significance than that of a police officer. He also said that he worried about his children, living in this country. He felt anxious for his children in case a mob surrounded them and asked them about their religion. He worried about their situation.
After the video released on social media, many people were getting antsy to see the video. The people protested against the veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and they gathered on the streets for this purpose. They burnt the actor’s effigy and showed black flags in the street. Shah was found clarifying his remarks after a day. He corrected his remarks and explained that he was concerned as an Indian man. He explained that he had done no wrong. On Monday Karwan-e-Mohabbat India put the video online. Shah was criticized by the members of many political parties. Shiv Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande said in an interview about this incident that if he felt insecure in this country he should shift to go to Pakistan. Airport Authority of India canceled the TM Krishna concert because of the members of right-wing groups protested against the incident. Including many political party members, renowned personalities expressed their anger for this incident.
The 68-year-old actor gave the keynote address of the fifth edition of the three-day literature festival. Many protesters including right-wing activists protested before the commencement of the festival. Even one of them threw black ink on the poster of this famous actor.
