Gautam Gambhir’s Retirement from Cricket

Recently Gautam Gambhir has notified his retirement from all types of cricket matches on 3 Dec 2018. He has played his last match in Delhi at Feroz Shah stadium on 6 of December 2018. The match was of Ranji Trophy which was played between Delhi and Andhra teams.

Gambhir who is of 37 years of age has made his mind of retirement from many years due to his failures in IPL matches during 2014 and also his poor performances in IPL 2018.

Career: Gambhir has played many matches which includes 58 Test matches, 147 ODIs, and 37 T20 matches. Overall, he was able to score more than 10000 runs which is an outstanding performance. He has named 9 test centuries and 11 ODI centuries.

Gambhir’s Call: In a recent interview, he said that he has devoted his 15 years to his country by playing matches of cricket, and yes now it’s his time for retirement from this game which he loves the most. Gambhir also said that he is ready for various kinds of pains, sufferings and even the failures in his next life too earning more wins and hundreds for his country.

For Gambhir it was always a dream that his country should be in top rankings, he also dreamt of winning a world cup for all of us. He always remembers the trophy he was awarded for ICC Test batsman of the year in 2009.

Finest Opening batsman: Gambhir will be remembered for his opening and association with Virendra Sehwag, as that was the time when India was really in need for stability at the top. Both of them has made 4412 runs together from 87 tests with an average of 52.52. Gambhir is also the fourth highest run scorer in IPL with scoring 4217 runs from 154 matches, which also twice led Kolkata Knight Riders to the title.

Gambhir also wished to work for cricket with loyalty by recycling himself in such a way that can be useful for cricket. He was happy for his retirement as he is aware that yes, it is his right time and as a batsman, he is well aware of time.

Gautam Gambhir the Arjuna award winner of 2008 will be in hearts of every cricket lover of India forever.
