The meteorological center in Shimla has issued a warning of heavy snowfall and rain due to active western disturbances. The Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive a fresh spell of snowfall in the middle and higher Himalayan Range.
The weatherman has predicted yellow weather warning for heavy rainfall and snow on most parts of Himachal Pradesh including the popular spots like Shimla, Kufri, Manali, Kullu, Chamba, Lahaul, and Spiti. A decrease in the day and night temperature will also most probably occur.
The meteorological department had warned the tourist to be utmost cautions as roads will be blocked with snow and traffic may come to a standstill. In case of emergency, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) may be contacted at 1077 as said by Mr.Akshay Sood, the Additional District Magistrate of Kullu.
Heavy rain may also occur at isolated places over the middle and lower part of the state. The Kullu administration has also issued a high alert to all the tourist that are already in the area and those who are likely to visit the above places within a day or two.
Keylong continues to be the coldest place in the state with as low as minus 6.8 degree Celsius while that of Kalpa still remains in the negative side of the Celsius scale.
The picturesque town of Manali in Kullu may receive a fair amount of snow and the National Highway-5 in Shimla may be blocked causing traffic blockage and tourist discomfort. The cold wave might intensify and people have to go under heavier cover.
Dharamsala, Palampur, Solan, Nahan, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, and Mandi may be lashed with heavy rainfall resulting in a dip in the mercury. Tourists are advised not to plan for the Rohtang Pass. However, they can go to Solang.
However, with the massage of the fresh advent of snowfall, the State might receive more adventure seeking tourist and have a flourishing business once again. People are gathering their heavy woolen garments and sleeping bags to start an enjoyable journey. It is reported that people are even hiring or buying tents to enjoy some time in the kingdom of snow.
