Captain Bjorn Borg has announced, Spaniard Rafael Nadal will team up with perennial rival Roger Federer for the second time in the third edition of next year’s Laver Cup in Geneva. The two tennis sensations Nadal and Federer were also teammates in the inaugural tournament in 2017. But Nadal who is a 17-time grand slam champion was not present a year later when Federer and Novak Djokovic starred for Europe. It will be a third time when the team is featuring the best of Europe against a World team. Bjorn Borg who is the non-playing captain of Europe team, said that Nadal and Federer had been a boost for the September competition. He also said that he felt proud to announce the name of both Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the Laver Cup in Geneva. The sport has ever seen together on one team is very exciting for their sport, when the two greatest players and rivals will play together. The pair will give them the best possible winning chance to the Laver Cup three years in a row.
The Federer and Nadal pair won first and second in the all-time list of men’s Grand Slam winners with 20 and 16 respectively. They together won a doubles match at the Laver Cup in Prague in 2017. Brog said that they all underestimated how powerful it would be to see them sitting side by side, coaching each other and cheering each other. Swiss Federer who is one of the instigators of the event said that having Nadal in the team again after he had missed that year’s edition in Chicago due to his injury. When the pair first played for the Laver Cup in Prague in 2017, they all knew about the increased chance of their win. A tournament is a different event where it brings together players.
